R. O. Blackwell is a licensed professional geologist turned storyteller. A dual US and Australian citizen, he splits his time between Sydney and Alaska.

His fascination with Ice Age fiction grew from a simple question: what do we know about the people who lived before recorded history, before agriculture, before settled towns, before anyone thought to write a single word down? The answer is almost nothing. That knowledge gap became the spark for the First Blue Saga.

The Orshenar Trilogy is a fictional account of humanity’s first blue eyes, thought to have emerged in the Caucasus and Black Sea region roughly 10,000 to 15,000 years ago. The people who lived through that era left virtually no traces. This series imagines what their lives would have been like if they had.
